Laura is a Trade Compliance Counsel for GE Aviation, where she counsels GE Aviation business leaders on US and foreign export control, anti-boycott, customs, and improper payment matters. Laura joined GE Aviation from the United States Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), where she was an Export Administration Specialist. In this role, Laura counseled exporters on compliance with export control regulations, participated on bilateral export control fora with foreign governments, prepared position papers on compliance issues for the Chief Licensing Officer, and supervised the BIS internet seminar program.
Laura received her JD in 2005, and her undergraduate degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Economics in 2002, from the University of Puerto Rico. She also received a Master’s Degree in International Finance and Economics from American University in 2008. Laura is fluent in Spanish, and is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and in the District of Columbia.
